Flow Cell and Sensor Component |
|
 |
| The MC Device detects and analyzes tensile force and/or the
rigidity change of thin-layered protein MC film by a highly sensitive force
sensor. The MC film is fabricated by the electrospray deposition method, and
becomes a freestanding film by treatment with cross-linking agents. The film
is perforated
and retained by a pair of tungsten pins within a micro-cell and in contact with
various kinds of solutions. One end of the pin is a force sensor to detect tensional
change larger than 0.1µN, and the other end of the pin is connected to piezo-oscillator
to measure the film rigidity by providing micro-vibrations. |

| Component Parts |
 |
| The instrument is made up of the measuring assembly, the sample
supply assembly, the motor assembly, the dry air supply assembly, and the PC
unit for controlling and/or measuring. |
 |
| Description |
 |
| As well as being equipped with a highly sensitive force sensor,
the measuring assembly has a mechanism to perforate the film and to move it
to a measurement cell. The sample supply assembly can incorporate 50
types of small volume samples (up to 2ml) and 3 types of large volume samples
(up to the size of the container), and can supply the samples to the cell either
manually or automatically. The whole procedure is controlled by the computer
system attached to the equipment, and the data is processed and analyzed
immediately by the computer. |

| Advantage of the MC Technology |
 |
| MC allows : |
- sensitive detection of protein conformational change in real-time,
without the use of labels
- sensitive detection of molecular interaction that induces protein
conformational change
- sensitive detection independent of the mass of ligands
- kinetic analysis and quantitative analysis
- evaluation of material properties such as nano-fibers
